Chris Hillman

Chris Hillman is an American musician, singer, and songwriter who is best known for his work as a founding member of the influential country rock bands, The Byrds and the Flying Burrito Brothers. Hillman was born on December 4, 1944, in Los Angeles, California, and began playing guitar at an early age.

In 1964, Hillman joined The Byrds as their bassist, and he quickly became an important member of the band. He co-wrote many of their songs and sang lead vocals on some of their biggest hits, including "So You Want to Be a Rock 'n' Roll Star" and "Eight Miles High." Hillman played with The Byrds until 1968, when he left the band to form The Flying Burrito Brothers with Gram Parsons.

With The Flying Burrito Brothers, Hillman continued to explore the fusion of country and rock music, which had become a hallmark of his sound. The band's first album, "The Gilded Palace of Sin," is now considered a classic of the country rock genre.

After leaving The Flying Burrito Brothers, Hillman continued to work as a solo artist and collaborated with other musicians, including Stephen Stills and Manassas. He also joined the country rock supergroup, The Desert Rose Band, in the late 1980s, and they scored several hits on the country charts.

Throughout his career, Hillman has been recognized as an important figure in the development of country rock music. He has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, once as a member of The Byrds and once as a member of The Flying Burrito Brothers.
