Creedence Clearwater Revival

Creedence Clearwater Revival (often shortened to CCR) was an American rock band formed in 1967 in El Cerrito, California. The band consisted of lead vocalist and guitarist John Fogerty, rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty, bassist Stu Cook, and drummer Doug Clifford. CCR is widely regarded as one of the greatest American rock bands of all time, known for their unique blend of swamp rock, blues rock, and country rock.

CCR's early music drew heavily from Southern American musical traditions, particularly those of the Louisiana bayou region. Their songs often featured vivid lyrics and storytelling, with themes ranging from political commentary to nostalgic reflections on childhood and youth.

CCR had a string of hits throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s, including "Proud Mary," "Bad Moon Rising," "Green River," "Born on the Bayou," "Fortunate Son," and "Who'll Stop the Rain." Their music became synonymous with the Vietnam War era, and many of their songs spoke to the frustrations and disillusionment of young Americans at the time.

Despite their success, tensions within the band eventually led to Tom Fogerty's departure in 1971, and the band disbanded in 1972. However, their music continued to resonate with audiences, and CCR's influence can be heard in the music of many bands that followed.

In recognition of their contributions to American music, CCR was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.
