Edgar Winter / The Edgar Winter Group

Edgar Winter is an American musician, singer, and songwriter, known for his versatile and innovative approach to music. He was born on December 28, 1946, in Beaumont, Texas, USA.

Winter began playing music at a young age and formed his first band, the Crystaliers, when he was just 14 years old. He went on to attend several music schools and became proficient in multiple instruments, including keyboards, saxophone, guitar, and drums.

In the late 1960s, Winter formed a group called White Trash, which fused elements of rock, blues, and jazz. The band gained popularity with their energetic live performances and released several albums, including "Edgar Winter's White Trash" (1971) and "Roadwork" (1972).

Winter is perhaps best known for his solo hit "Frankenstein," which was released in 1973 and features his signature keyboard sound. The song became a classic of the era and is still a popular choice for rock radio stations.

Winter continued to release albums and tour throughout the 1970s and 1980s, collaborating with musicians such as Rick Derringer, Ronnie Montrose, and Dan Hartman. He also scored the soundtrack for the 1981 film "The Escape Artist."

In addition to his music career, Winter has also acted in several films and television shows, including the movie "Netherworld" (1992) and the TV series "Renegade" (1992-1997).

Throughout his career, Edgar Winter has been celebrated for his unique musical style and his ability to push the boundaries of rock, blues, and jazz. He has been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards and continues to be a respected and influential figure in the music industry.
