Fool's Gold

The Illinois-based Fool's Gold was formed in 1973 and consisted of Denny Henson, Tom Kelly, Ron Grinel, and Doug Livingston. They played a unique blend of rock, folk, and country music and were known for their tight vocal harmonies.

In 1974, Fool's Gold caught the attention of Dan Fogelberg, who was also from Illinois, and he helped them secure a record deal with Asylum Records. The band then went on to tour with Fogelberg as his opening act and also performed as his backing band on occasion.

Fool's Gold released two albums on Asylum Records: their self-titled debut in 1976 and "Mr. Lucky" in 1977. Although the band never achieved mainstream success, they were highly respected in the music industry for their musicianship and songwriting abilities.

After their second album, Fool's Gold disbanded in 1978. Dan Fogelberg went on to have a successful solo career, and some members of Fool's Gold went on to work as session musicians and songwriters.
