The Jaggerz

The Jaggerz is a rock band that originated from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the United States. The band was formed in 1964 and was initially known as the Rhythm Kings. However, they changed their name to the Jaggers in the late 1960s. "Jagger" is a Western Pennsylvania term for a sharp, thorny object. According to an interview with band member Benny Faiella, the band was looking for a name that sounded tough and gritty, and they decided on "Jaggers". After learning another band of the same name existed, they changed it to "Jaggerz" to avoid confusion.

The Jaggerz gained nationwide recognition in 1970 with their hit song "The Rapper," which reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song was written by lead singer Dominic Ierace, who would later take the stage name Donnie Iris.

After the success of "The Rapper," the Jaggerz continued to release music throughout the 1970s, including songs like "I Call My Baby Candy," "What a Bummer," and "Let's Talk About Love." They also continued to tour and perform, although they never achieved the same level of commercial success as they did with their breakthrough hit.

Over the years, the Jaggerz have undergone several lineup changes, with Donnie Iris leaving the band in 1972 to pursue a solo career. However, they have continued to perform and record music, and they remain a popular live act in the Pittsburgh area to this day.
