The Rascals

The Rascals, also known as The Young Rascals, were an American rock band formed in 1965 in Garfield, New Jersey. The original members included Felix Cavaliere (vocals, keyboards), Eddie Brigati (vocals), Gene Cornish (guitar), and Dino Danelli (drums).

Another group, named 'Harmonica Rascals', objected to their release of records under the name 'The Rascals'. To avoid conflict, their manager, Sid Bernstein, decided to rename the group 'The Young Rascals', possibly because all the members were under 25. The band would resume using the name 'The Rascals' in 1968.

The band was known for their energetic live performances and their mix of rock, soul, and R&B music. They had a string of hits in the mid-to-late 1960s, including "Good Lovin'," "Groovin'," "A Beautiful Morning," and "People Got to Be Free."

The Rascals were one of the most successful American bands of the 1960s, and their music was a reflection of the changing social and political climate of the time. They were outspoken advocates for civil rights and were known for their anti-war stance during the Vietnam War.

The band broke up in 1972, but their music continued to be influential for years to come. In 1997, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and their songs have been covered by numerous artists over the years.

The Rascals were an important and influential band in the history of American rock music, blending different genres and incorporating social and political messages into their music.
