Simon Stokes

Simon Stokes and the Seahawks were a rock band that formed in the late 1960s in Los Angeles, California. Simon Stokes was the lead singer and songwriter, and he was known for his raw, powerful vocals and his provocative, politically charged lyrics. The Seahawks were known for their hard-driving, blues-inflected rock sound, and their live shows were legendary for their energy and intensity.

The band released several albums and singles throughout the 1970s, including their debut album, "Simon Stokes and the Black Whip Thrill Band" in 1971, which featured the hit single "Captain Howdy." The song was later covered by the metal band Twisted Sister and appeared on their 1984 album "Stay Hungry."

Other notable songs by Simon Stokes and the Seahawks include "Voodoo Woman," "The Boogeyman," and "Big City Blues." The band was popular on the Southern California music scene and played shows with other influential bands of the era, such as the Stooges, the New York Dolls, and the MC5.

Simon Stokes and the Seahawks disbanded in the late 1970s, but their music has remained influential, particularly in the garage rock and punk rock genres. In recent years, there has been renewed interest in the band, and their music has been reissued on CD and vinyl.
