Steely Dan

Steely Dan is an American jazz rock band formed in 1972 by core members Donald Fagen and Walter Becker. The band's name is a reference to a "vibrator" mentioned in the William S. Burroughs novel Naked Lunch.

Over the course of their career, Steely Dan released numerous hit albums and singles, blending elements of rock, jazz, funk, R&B, and pop music. Their music was characterized by sophisticated harmonies, complex arrangements, and witty lyrics.

Some of their most popular songs include "Reelin' in the Years," "Rikki Don't Lose That Number," "Do It Again," "Hey Nineteen," and "Peg." The band was known for its meticulous approach to recording, often using some of the top session musicians in the industry to achieve their signature sound.

Steely Dan was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001, and their music continues to be celebrated by fans and musicians alike for its unique blend of genres and unparalleled musical craftsmanship. Walter Becker passed away in 2017, but Donald Fagen continues to perform and tour under the Steely Dan name.
