"Weird Al" Yankovic is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and comedian. He was born on October 23, 1959, in Lynwood, California. He is known for creating humorous parodies of popular songs, as well as original comedy songs. Yankovic began his career in music in the late 1970s, recording his first comedy song, "Belvedere Cruisin'," in 1976. He gained widespread attention in 1979 with his parody of the Knack's hit "My Sharona," which he called "My Bologna." Yankovic continued to release parody songs throughout the 1980s and 1990s, with hits such as "Eat It" (parody of Michael Jackson's "Beat It"), "Like a Surgeon" (parody of Madonna's "Like a Virgin"), and "Smells Like Nirvana" (parody of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit"). In addition to his parodies, Yankovic has also released many original comedy songs, often satirizing popular culture and everyday life. Some of his most popular original songs include "Another One Rides the Bus," "Yoda," and "Amish Paradise." Throughout his career, Yankovic has won five Grammy Awards and been nominated for numerous others. He has also had a successful career in film and television, with appearances in shows such as "The Simpsons" and "Comedy Bang! Bang!" and the movie "UHF," which he wrote and starred in. Yankovic has been a beloved figure in comedy and music for decades, and his unique blend of humor and musical talent has made him a one-of-a-kind performer. The absolute master in the creation of musical parodies. I love Weird Al's attitude: i.e., Don't take everything so seriously...We all need to laugh at ourselves sometime. I never get tired of his stuff. -GSH Albums:
