Fleetwood Mac

Fleetwood Mac is a British-American rock band that formed in London in 1967. The original lineup included Peter Green on lead guitar, Mick Fleetwood on drums, John McVie on bass, and Jeremy Spencer on rhythm guitar. The band went through several personnel changes over the years, with the most successful lineup including Lindsey Buckingham on guitar and vocals, Stevie Nicks on vocals, Christine McVie on keyboards and vocals, John McVie on bass, and Mick Fleetwood on drums.

Fleetwood Mac's music has been described as a fusion of rock, pop, and blues, with an emphasis on vocal harmonies and catchy melodies. The band's early albums, such as "Fleetwood Mac" (1968) and "Then Play On" (1969), featured a bluesier sound influenced by Peter Green's guitar playing. However, the band's sound evolved over time, with the addition of Buckingham and Nicks in the mid-1970s bringing a more pop-oriented and commercially successful sound.

Fleetwood Mac achieved massive success in the late 1970s and early 1980s with the albums "Fleetwood Mac" (1975), "Rumours" (1977), and "Tusk" (1979). "Rumours" in particular became one of the best-selling albums of all time, featuring hit songs such as "Don't Stop," "Go Your Own Way," and "Dreams." The album's success was fueled in part by the tumultuous personal relationships between band members, which inspired many of the album's songs.

Early British blues band evolved into one of the biggest popular rock bands of all time. -GSH

Hartman Recommends:
You can't go wrong with 1975's "Fleetwood Mac" or it's followup, "Rumours"...unless you slept through the mid-'70's, you know what I'm talking about.
